From December 9, 2014 through May 31, 2015, Paris’ Musée de l’Histoire de l’Immigration will present “Fashion Mix” – an exhibition where Paris and fashion are seen through the lens of fashion designers born outside France, but established in Paris. These designers helped to create French fashion and contributed to its rich, international aesthetic.
As the leading figure of the Italian school, Elsa Schiaparelli became the most Parisian of the Romans. Among the selection on display, this Fall/Winter 1949 Schiaparelli Haute Couture evening coat which plays up the graphic contrast of black with the designer’s signature shocking pink.
