Bertrand Guyon is appointed Design Director
of the House of Schiaparelli
The House of Schiaparelli appoints Bertrand Guyon as Design Director of all Haute Couture and Prêt-à-Couture collections.

Bertrand Guyon brings his creative energy to the Schiaparelli team, comprised of the design studio and the atelier both located 21, place Vendôme, the very same historical couture house where Elsa Schiaparelli used to work. He will develop the brand’s design where couture rhymes with art and innovation.

« Elsa Schiaparelli is an enchanting couture house. I have always been fascinated by its exceptional legacy, its luminous and intimate story, its quirky and poetic world, its ultimate chic and its endless creativity. I feel honored to be part of Schiaparelli today and develop it further, respecting its heritage and tradition while adding a contemporary and modern take, something Elsa Schiaparelli has always demonstrated. » says Bertrand Guyon.

The first Schiaparelli collection orchestrated by Bertrand Guyon will be presented in Paris next July during Haute Couture week.

“Women Fashion Power”

From October 26, 2014 to April 26, 2015, London’s Design Museum presents “Women Fashion Power” - an exhibition exploring how women created and/or used fashion to express themselves and to assert their influence in their field of activity and beyond.

The show includes the August 13th, 1934 issue of TIME magazine with Elsa Schiaparelli on its cover. She was the very first female fashion designer to grace the front-page of the iconic American weekly (see picture). The feature story introduces her as ‘one of the arbiters of ultra-modern Haute Couture.’

Elsa Schiaparelli’s famous firsts: an animated film

Throughout her entire life, Elsa Schiaparelli has been an independent strong woman and a daring creative force.

Her innovative ideas led her to establish Schiaparelli as an iconic fashion brand in less than 30 years.

From her inventive imagination and revolutionary visions on sportswear, Haute Couture, art, ordinary-elements-turned-into-elaborate creations, prints, colors, shapes, fashion and fragrances, the House of Schiaparelli has commissioned Dutch film maker Christian Borstlap to re-interpret the essence of Elsa Schiaparelli’s famous firsts into a contemporary animated film.

A tribute to Elsa: a Haute Couture collection by Monsieur Christian Lacroix

In keeping with a series of homages dedicated to the personality and the style of Elsa, the House of Schiaparelli has invited Monsieur Christian Lacroix to create a unique collection.

These 18 silhouettes will be presented next July during Haute Couture week.

« This truly aristocratic character conveys a spirit that expresses at the same time mathematics, literature, and even poetry. Elsa is a sacred sphinx who never ceases to question us by offering enigmas as answers. The world of the arts, theater and cinema... I wish top position Elsa again at the center of her house and on the stage where she seduced the world. », comments Monsieur Christian Lacroix.

This tribute in July 2013 will be followed by several other contributions showcasing the talents of artists of various fields. Each rendez-vous dedicated to Elsa will be a testimony to the strength of her personality and the wide scope of her aesthetic imprint passed down to current generations. Carte blanche will be given to these artistic reinterpretations celebrating a myth that has remained contemporary.
