“Déboutonner la mode” (a story of buttons)
At Paris’ Museum Les Art Décoratifs
From February 10 through July 19, Paris’ museum Les Arts Décoratifs presents « Déboutonner la mode » - an exhibition dedicated to the fascinating world of buttons.

A collection of over 3,000 buttons all unique in their innovation and craftsmanship is shown alongside a selection of silhouettes by some of the greatest fashion designers of the 20th century.

The display includes several Schiaparelli creations such as a gilt bronze button sculpted by Alberto Giacometti for Elsa Schiaparelli (1935) and a shocking pink and metallic enamelled ceramic version crafted by François Hugo for Schiaparelli (circa 1940). Also in the exhibition is a Schiaparelli Haute Couture Winter 1937 cyan blue silk cloqué pantsuit with hand-painted multi-coloured birds’ buttons that belonged to Marlere Dietrich.
