From January 31, 2015 through January 3, 2016, the Fashion Museum of Bath (England) will present “Great Names of Fashion” – an exhibition dedicated to the work of the most famous fashion designers of the 20th century.
The selection on display shows this Summer 1939 Schiaparelli Haute Couture hyacinth blue silk crêpe evening dress decorated with pearl latticework and embroidered with the crossed keys of Saint Peter, in pearls, diamantes and gold thread. The dress belonged to Lady Jane Clark, wife of the art historian Sir Kenneth Clark (who was at the time director of London’s National Gallery).
