Schiaparelli opens its first pop-up store dedicated to ready-to-wear and accessories in New York City. Located within the iconic Bergdorf Goodman, the new space is the first outside 21 place Vendôme since 1954.
Today’s collaboration between Schiaparelli and Bergdorf Goodman echoes the long-standing relationship that goes back to 1931. In the spirit of Elsa Schiaparelli’s extensive travels, the place Vendôme couture house has crossed the Atlantic to New York’s Fifth Avenue. Large wardrobe trunks display clothes and accessories in a salon where walls are painted with a view of Paris’ place Vendôme. The famous Jean-Michel Frank birdcage that has welcomed clients in Paris has been recreated so that New York women can enjoy the same art-meets-fashion decor.
The unique mix captures Schiaparelli’s elegant and eclectic style while creating an intimate atmosphere to discover Story – a new foray into ready-to-wear and accessories including the launch of the Secret, the very first Schiaparelli handbag and the Schiaparelli & the Artists book. The Schiaparelli boutique will present Story #1 dedicated to Elsa Schiaparelli’s long-time friend and collaborator Man Ray. Clothes and accessories - in limited edition - play with his original art yet give it an entirely new context.
Last but not least, Bergdorf Goodman will introduce Schiaparelli in its windows at the corner of Fifth Avenue and 58th Street. Designed by senior director of visual presentation David Hoey in collaboration with the Man Ray Trust, they highlight Schiaparelli prêt-à-couture with Man Ray artwork.
