From September 10, 2014 to February 15, 2015, the Brooklyn Museum will present “Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe” - an exhibition dedicated to one of the ultimate symbol of femininity.
Stiletto, platform or wedge, high-heeled shoes reveal a mythology going from historically precious hidden accessories to sexy, fetish or architectural objects of desire and contemplation.
Over 160 historical and contemporary styles will be on display. The selection includes the iconic “shoe hat” created by Elsa Schiaparelli in collaboration with Salvador Dali. Here is the black wool felt Schiaparelli “shoe hat” part of the Winter 1937/38 collection.
